IT WAS SOMETHING LIKE THIS...

I have been a little occupied with my 'projects' that it's been days since I last post anything here.
Andrew being here doesn't help much either. His medical chek up was due again and as usual he'll take a week off for last minute excercises before going for the review.

The problem with not blogging anything at the right moment is that you tend to forget what really happened and much of the feeling when it happened were gone.
That was how it was with what went through these few days of mine.

I remembered saturday was spent ( as it was a school day for the girls) going out with Andrew for breakfast before coming home and going out again to pick up the older girls for their bowling training .
It was suppose to start at 12pm but their class only finished at 12.30pm so we were there only well after 12.30pm. I've asked mom to get Lydia from her teacher's house as her class too finished at 12.30. Timing wasn't right for me to do it myself. It was the best solution too as I would still have to send her at my mom's sometime later. It was weekend and 'popoh's' house is her home during the weekends.

My dad had actually wanted to take her since yesterday but didn't because of the extra school day.
Pity him . He'd missed her since his last trip back from KK. I was told he would leave again for KK on sunday morning.
Dad is rather busy nowdays as he's building another house (much to my mom's annoyance and disapproval) back on inheritance land in Papar.
He says he is making a house with an underground room..... daa!
That is somewhat of a dream to make come true for him I think. He had made a room halfway underground ( Lydia once asked...' is that a pool?") with the house in Beluran.
That was I think an on the spur of the moment project then or else he would have made it a full underground room.
I have yet to stay in that room which he insisted as... 'sejuk'. I have not infact been in that house more than once. It is after all a two hour trip to Beluran.
I wonder what would happen should there was a sudden flood and we didn't realise it....???? then it sure would be a pool just a Lydia had said.... hhmmm

I woke up early sunday morning because the 'babies' were making so much noise.
Andrew was also up early as he had an appointment with the dentist to have his teeth fill.
The appointment was in town so I took the free ride to 'jalan jalan' at the sunday flee market.
We went our seperate ways to do our seperate 'things' and by the time I thought he would be done, gone to the clinc to meet up.
He wasn't done. Not for another two hours.
As I was already there I decided to have my teeth checked as well.
I found out I needed fillings.....four fillings! ...aahhhh
My appointment was made for 1st of May.

We went rushing back to get the girls as they were told by their coash via sms they would have a bowling competition with the Telekon team that morning.
We got there right on time and they bowled four games to determind the eventual winner.
Where Tisha bowled brillantly it wasn't the same case for Yona.
Tisha came in second while Yona 11th.
Afternoon was spent as a family thing.... lunch on 'Indian's pizza' and napping in the dining room .

This was too cute to pass by. I found this adorable hamster at the flee market. It cost me just RM2

Mondays have actually always been my 'day off'. Not this week though as Andrew was still around. He had gone for his blood test appointment earlier but was back by nine. That would mean today I would have to cook lunch.. and dinner.....eehhhhh maaalllaaaassssssss....
The 'on-off' of the electicity situation was still an on going thing here. While yesterday it didn't happened, It did today.
Exactly at 7pm it went off. A three hour of darkness and warm endurance which Andrew was unwilling to take. We 'escaped' to Giant for some cooler environment.
A bad choice as that thought was shared with hundreds others. The place was fully packed and it was really cooler just to be outside.
It suprised me that we spent almost RM400 with the 'this-that' things at Giant. I added another RM129 for two giant bottle of @180 primrose capsuls from guardian.
An expensive option for enduring a little 'heat' at home.

Probably because he'd spent money the day earlier, Andrew didn't want to go out today. Not that I have much problem with the idea. Just that I will now need to cook his meal for him ........aahhhh....again.
I had been itching to get my hair trimmed so I went on by myself.
Before that I did some more shopping for bakery utensils..( hehe.. more spending) .
Took my lunch alone ..... at a open air shop!
It's been a while since anyone seen me dining alone. Infact I felt a bit out of place myself. It was kind of too quiet for confort.

After a short afternoon nap I was into my 'now favourite' past time..... baking.
I've gotten the ciffon tin I wanted at Giant so I was ready to try out my cheese chiffon.
I tried a new recipie for carrot cupcakes as well.
Anyhow...I did take some photos.
I made the girls my guinea pigs... to try out ( and 'getting rid')of my 'products'
Not a problem with Yona and Lydia as they too have the same passion for cakes as me. Tisha on the other hand, packed her share and had her school friends tried them.
Not a bad idea as I do need outsider's reviews. My girls's?... don't bother asking cos I already know what they were going to say....

This is a portion of the cheese chiffon that I bake using a regular round tin

While this is the one that I baked in a real chiffon tin that I just bought for RM26 at giant

The carrot cup cakes that I tried. Results were ok but personally I think it was a bit sweet and heavy

Wala... this is the almost end product carrot cupcake with glace icing... I have not fully decorated the cake

MONEY DAY

It's been a 'long' day for me. I had gone out shopping for 'nothing' with Andrew since eight am. I had waited for my maid to come before leaving the house in her hands. A normal practise for me since I got to trust her more.
Andrew's meeting at the Forestry Dept was schedule only at two in the afternoon therefore we ( I'm a reluctant shadow) had few hours to 'burn'.

Our 'out of the house' venture today cost much more I imagined.
We had breakfast at one of the most expensive ordinary open air shop at bandar Kim Fung. 2020.... that is the name of the shop where they specializes in medicated soup choice of noodles, the white filled tau foo and for having fresh fish for your choice of cooking.
This is our breakfas plus a glass of ice milo ice and lemon tea which cost a total RM34
Mee fried with egg

The well know medecated meehoon soup with fish fillet

The shopping for 'nothing' came in a form of a Cannon Camera that cost Andrew more than 6K..... aahhh... he is as 'bad' as me when it comes to the 'I want' things.
..... boo hoo....there goes my Australian holiday now.
Maybe it's about time I too upgrade my camera ...... someone commented on my photos and said I didn't do a good job on them. Well ...as I've said I'm only using a lady's camera... click.. click... click..
I'll consider on one of Andrew's collection then.... might as well put them to use.

Before we came home we had lunch at Nyanyang... another eatery at Indah Jaya. It serves local Malaysian Delights with much emphasize on the food presentation.
Lunch cost us RM20
This is called Loh mee... I have no idea why

Their version of nasi Lemak

Rushing home with packed food for the girls greets us with no electricity . Haaaaaaaa. second day in a row. It was so darn hot.
Andrew left for his meeting while I went off for my cooking class..... a might as well 'watching video session' as someone puts it.
Hhmmm.... I already know how to bake ok... I just needed to refresh and 'dig out' forgotten tips and hints.
I was there till after four. Went online but just for awhile as my head was heavy and I still some time to get ready for dinner with friends. Tired because I missed my morning and afternoon nap...
he he .. what can I say... I'm used to napping throughout the day.
My night ended early ( my standard) As much as I Was missing my online friends and wanted to chat my body was telling me otherwise. I know a few people were dissapointed

GETTING RAW

The girls wanted to go bowling as they have missed two days of training this month but Andrew had already made a date with Rocky and Roy to have Japanese dinner at EDO ICHI...a japanese restaurant located at Tyng garden... (aha...Tyng..)
Since both were not bringing their kids, the girls didn't want to be tagged along to what they say 'old folks meeting'.
I don't blame them either. We 'old folks' tend to have prolong chit chats that wouldn't make sense to them youngings.
Japanese food has never been one of my favourite choice but I did go along each time as Andrew seem to love them a lot. I wouldn't say the same for his brother or Roy for that matter as I did get glimps of 'funny' faces with their bites.
What We .. the ladies feeling about the choice of place was not important. We were there more actually for the company .

My review for tonight's dinner
The Sashimi Mori
Yuk..leave it for someone who likes raw food. It's way expensive for an experience to taste biting onto raw fish....eeeeeeee..soft soft
Eal?... Octupus tenticals?.... double eeeeeee ... chewy and smelly
The roe, sushi..... they all have that real fishy smell..... ahhhhhhhh
What was bearable (...and eadible) was the grilled tuna, Lamb and chicken Teppanyaki, miso soup and the rice ( ha ha...seems like all the cooked food)
Japanese food is something your taste need aquiring to.
The drinks were on the other hand very nice and 'normal'
Nothing was priced below RM6 here so be ready.

The must have self portrait of myself with the 'place'..

Their version of Sashimi Mori comprising of three type of fish and the tenticals...regular plate for RM68

Recycled bottle?.. sure looked like Lady's choice mayo bottle.
That is Ume cooler which tasted like 'asam jawa'for RM8

The total bill we have to foot.....

MY BAKING EXPERIENCES

My joining the classes were purely due to boredom for my days of feeling 'nothing'.
Emotionally I have been a bit down for quite sometimes so this was something to inject 'umphh' to boost my self worth feelings.
I needed to regain those 'I still can do it'/ 'still have it with me'...feelings.

I have wanted to sign up for the whole week's class but remembered that I still have a few other prior commitments. I managed to signed up for two 'sit in' session within the week. Too bad all 'hands on' ones were fully booked.
If I was still keen, next month's ones were already open for booking I was told.... see how 'laku' these classes are.
I decided against signing up yet. I'm giving it time just incase this sudden interest deminish or dissapear all together as it has suddenly appeared in the first place .
I am a known mood swinger person.... he he .. and deposits for these classes were not refundable with cash so... you'd understand my hesitation.

As a 'sit in' student... It was darn boring. At times I had a hard time just keeping my eyes open. I noticed that too on some of the others.
Most of those who attened were already established baker themselves with their own products already on the market.... either owners of cafes or their bakery chefs.
They were there purely to look out for new products...... I asked!
So not to be 'outdone', I played the part of 'know what they were talking about ' throughout the sessions... I actually do just probably lack of practicals.
Despite the boringness in some of the moments, it ended up well with nothing less than perfect cakes.

IN MEMORY OF AN AUNT

Sunday night was the first annivesary of aunt Floser's death. There was prayers held at Steve's place in Taman Rimba at eight that night.
More for a reason why Andrew didn't go back to KK this morning other than the meeting at the Forestry Department tomorrow.
Most of his kins were there for the occassion. Simple and kept for close friends and  relatives only.

I remembered aunt Floser with fond memories. A very petite pious woman with a soft voice who laugh easily as Andrew's jokes. She was Andrew's dad adopted sister.

How time flies and it's been a year since she passed on.
She was the first 'old' relative of Andrew that I met when we started as a couple years ago.

Infact it was her house where we used to 'lepak lepak' when there were nowhere to go or there were no good movies showing at the local cenimas...yup... we used to see a lot of movies back then.
She was ever so ready welcoming us to her home.
Remembering how good she was then makes me feel a little guilty  for not showing up at her funeral then.
Well.. tonight was like making up for what I didn't do a year ago.

Although I did not participate in the prayers as I do not belong to the same church, I did sang along with the singing.

Viewing what to savour...

Attacking the food....

The food before the attack...

SUNDAY DATE WITH MORE FOOD

Andrew wanted to have breakfast at Kim Fung but found finding a parking space was such a problem . We did actually go out early but getting Lydia's hair cut took such a long time that by the time it was done, it was already time for the 'sunday's people' to venture out.
We tried a new place this time... least new for Andrew. I've been there a couple of times years ago. However time has seen the place... Citi Club.... renovated.
The cafe which used to be at the ground floor was now a floor up.

Food and price was ok but service was real slow. The waiteress even forgotten to get my order. Why can't they read the orders back each time?... hhmm @#$%#...
I left the place still feeling hungry.
Mario ,Jenny and their girls walked in as we were finishing. Talk for awhile before we left to get me some breakfast!

Went over to get Yona's computer charger but forgotten what model it was. So we left empty handed with still a task to finish.
Bought a dark chocolate blueberry cake for my sweet tooth..... and durians before we stopped over at Tmn Tshun Nyen to finally get my breakfast ( Which ended as my lunch)..and the older girls's lunch.

Lighting was everywhere that it was difficult to really get a good shot... a must have shot of me and the place.... plus a member of the 'peace' girls

I could not get a good picture of the whole room... but I caught Simon Cowell on tv giving the peace sign..... not him too!

the house's favourites...

The cure for my sweet tooth.... dark chocolate blueberry (birthday) cake...

Durians..... as nice as the ones we had last week

PLENTIFUL WEEKEND

With Andrew back it's always food in abundance.
It's a known fact that I do not cook much at home . Eating out has been our main activity each time that he's back that it something my girls look forward to.
Dinner on saturday was spent at 'The Boss' with Rocky and Florence.
Look at these dishes.... compared to what I'm able to come up with?.. why bother to even try.

A must have..... photo of me..and that wierd face girl
