It is so wonderful to see the greatness of  men who were once so high and mighty, fallen flat to the deepest of 'pits' and yet stilll could speak without blaming anybody....without complaining much.
This is the greatness of people who are spiritually rich even when they are materially poor.

Let us never forget that there are 'angles' walking amongs us.

A FRIEND FROM THE PAST

I was going through the pages of old school friends on facebook and came across this.

Sadness passed me. That obituary could have been mine. Afterall we were in the same 'era'.
It is so 'easy' and 'fast' if you think how we could one minute be here and the next gone.
It's all sorrowful feelings you get going through fond memories of someone who is not in this world anymore.

I first knew Francisca way back when were were in our teens.
I was thirteen and in Form two . Though we were born on the same year,  she was a year behind in grade.

I was actually best friends with her older sister Lola for the whole of my junior years.
I remembered many good times with Lola and her family at their home.
Sadly, I remembered too how time and new friends just made us drift apart.
It has been years  ....many many years since then.
I can 'see' she is still around but the gap we have left behind might be too large to ever be close again.
Maybe it was already written somewhere that our 'path' would only crossed once and branch out forever.

Much of our  friendship  back then were based on the fact that we were all very good at sports.
I was the 'new' addition ( having just moved from Labuan) to the 'clan'.
Back then who wouldn't know the famous Edmunds.  The three sisters from St Cecilia's convent.
Judy and Flo were sprinters like myself while Fran was more to the mid distances events.
She was slighly bigger built  ( and curlier :) )than her order sisters.

We somehow 'ruled' the track at every sports meet. Seems like everyone involves in sports knew who and how good we were.
Those were the good old days... I hope they too remember them fondly as I do.
Memories are all that is left now so it might as well be the good ones that I remember.

I didn't see eye to eye with Fran on most things then but we did shared friends and fun times together.
Importantly I remember her then and now as my friend .

May her soul rest in peace .

NIPPED

The idea was to go for an early jog in the morning.
However another late night and the thought of giving up those few extra hours of sleep kind of get to me....and Yona.
She was the one who has been so 'dying' to go for morning jogs for the past week.
So far...it has only been the mind that was willing, yet the body still refuses to....leave the bed :)

Anyhow, I do have an appointment at eight to get the tom cats neutered today.
Going out for a jog and coming back to get the cats ready might be be a little 'rushing' for me.
After much 'troubles' I went through in to get them this appointment, fat chance I was going to let it slipped away.

Knowing how goverment department works, I gave a ten minutes allowance for the staff to settle in ( to checked in was more like it) before I left for their office.
A normal ten minute dirve away but I was totally  unprepared for the traffic jam getting there.
 It shows how long it's been since I last used the road on 'peak' hours.
Then again, it has always been after two in the afternoon with my other appointments before.

It was almost nine by the time all the paperwork was done.
I left the three babies, Noodles, Pudding and the black cat  there for their utlimate 'nip'.
The new lady doctor, Carol  asked me to to come back for them around eleven.

Compred to the RM80/cat the private vet that I normally went to, It would only cost me RM30/cat here.
..to which I'm well pleased.

Lydia and me went on to replenish the cat's fishes at mile eight wet market.
Had some late breakfast and did some window shopping to pass the time before returning to get them home.

Poor Noodle after the operation.  Lying motionless and with his eyes wide opened. He looked so 'dead'

AND THE WINNER IS................

Just as I did my picking yesterday, the results came out.

I must say, my statement on  I have 'good' eyes for beauty does stand.

My favourite, Ranau, was infact the favourite with eveyone. It's really unfortunate that she wasn't crowned queen . The 'upset' created a lot of 'fuss' with the crowd as so with people leaving negative comments on facebook.

Facial beauty may be subjective when it comes to giving marks but  based on the IQ marks during the interview?  You can't hide anything when everyone were all ears to how you go about answering the question.

I do feel that these people have reason to question on the final outcome based on that.

It was already reason that she comes from the orginising district and most of  the judges were 'their own people' . 

They add insult to injury by saying that she won because she has got the ideal kampungan kind of beauty compared to the others and  also the 'right' name (Bozita  which mean Pearl in Kadazan) to go with it.
It was oviously so bias.  Everything was seen  as nothing short of preplanned.

 ****Two consecutive years, contestant with Kadazandusun-Murut's name crown to be Unduk Ngadau in state level, from the previous queen Crystel Eve Huminodun to the newly crown queen.

How could she have won if the  kampungan look was a criteria in the selection.
She oviously look so much more orang putih than dusun .

Out of those I had noted, nine of them made it to the fifteen semi finals list.
Out of that, seven of them made it to the final seven rankings.
Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaa...that means I got every lady 'right'.... just not in the 'right' order I wanted.

HARVEST FESTIVAL BEAUTIES

It's second day of harvest festival holiday.
Late morning for everyone. Late if you're used to waking up at five. It was just past seven when I settled down infront of the computer after doing the normal morning stuff..... yea yea ...the four legged babies stuffs.

I got so engrossed with clicking on the ungduk ngadau photography session shots unloaded  from Atlas's  fb account.
Beauty contest has been another passion of mine for as long as I can remember.
I just  love picking out winners.
I must say I got 'good' eyes for beauty too. Let's see if I've picked the right ones here.

These ladies are also judged on their personalities, the beauty of their costumes other than the physical facial and body beauty.
Knowledge of the mother tounge is a must.

Another one with the wow factor. A 'dark' beauty  thou she seems lacking in personality.

Oviously from her name you can tell that she's more chinese to her race. Beautiful, have the right height but I have my doubt they want a queen with a chinese name.

Beautiful in her own way . she has the built and beautiful  flawless skin. 
Importantly, she's from the orginising district. 
She also has a very prominent surname.
She will definitely be in the top...if not 5 at least the semi finals.

My hometown representative. 

Friends with my niece Nicole.

Beautiful but a little short in height I must say.

NO HARVEST.... ONLY RADISH CAKE

That would mean Happy harvest in the logal kadazan/dusun language.
But then again I could be wrong as I don't speak a word of the language :)

Anyway...for the rest and me who are not celebrating any harvest of any kind, it would only mean a day off. Two days infact as the State of Sabah has been allocated 30th and 31st of May as their own public holidays.
The highlight to all the other public holidays because it is the most celebrated event in the state.

During my younger days, to go and join in the celebration at state level was something I don't think twice doing.
Now that I'm  (a little ) older, it all seem lilke .... 'what's the big 'fuss' ?
Unless we had plans (which would normally mean a holiday trip somewhere)  it has been years that harvset festival been spent just lazying around the house.
This year was no difference.


Anticipating to be at home the whole day, I went on to make the radish cake that Yona have been asking me to do for sometimes now.

As always, it was still hot when I tried to cut it

The final product ....sedap!!!

YES!!!!!  nothing more enjoyable than being able to do what you love...
