BISCUIT DOWN WITH A FEVER

I found out that baby Biscuit was a little on the warm side and was not eating much.
Adds up to indication that she's having a slight fever. I had noticed she was shivering after her bath two days ago but did not think much of it. I would usually use the hair dryer to really dry her after each bath but on that particular night I had skipped that part .I felt her being in the house would not be very cold. Moreso since she has Oreo to keep her warm .
I had wanted to give her  antibiotic but worry that there might be more to it than the slight fever.
Biscuit was the pup abandoned by her mum soon after birth .  Now in the animal kingdom that would mean something is not 'right' with the the baby thus the mum usually won't waste her time looking after ones that weren't going to make it.  However with me as her mom she has made it this far with only crooked eyes for deformities.
I took her to the private clinic at mile eight and paid  RM25 for antibiotics which I already have laying around at home.
Other than the slight fever, she was alright. Eating well too when the doctor gave her some canned food.
 Probably just making a statement on the rice and fish meals I have been serving her ;)
Biscuit ..my crooked eyes baby

Andrew came back from Keningau just as I was finishing the afternoon chores and locking up the main gate.
With him around I had to discontinue with my intention to finish putting up the plastic bind for  the displayed unit of sunflowers I have on the hallway evenwhen  Lydia was so keen on lending her hands.
We went out for a massage at the usual place  at around seven thirty. I supposed just the right time as both of us managed to get  'worked on' instantly.

Getting some answers

I don't know why today I felt so 'geram' with the JCI awareness campaign for animal abuse on their fb page.
Most likely (maybe) because for a week now  have been pushing AFU's ( Enforce the Animal Act Law 1953 to end Animal Cruelty in Sabah - The Petition Site www.thepetitionsite.com ) online petition form for the renewal of the state's law against animal crueality and abuse amongs the members on the Sandakan group page ( which is having JCI members as their owner and moderator) without much response.

There I was trying to get as many signatures as possible and they just seem to 'buat tak tau' on the matter.  I don't believe so that they can miss these postings I have made.

And to be informed that they have a big campaign on the same subject this year? . . H E L L O. . .
What better way  to kill two birds with one stone?.
All it takes was to sign and share the petition to their friends. What was so difficult about that?.
click click click..that's all what it takes.

I went on to their campaign page and that really rubbed my 'geramness' (??????) . After going through it, the 'picture' that was planted on my mind was their members shaking hands with YBs and Sandakan's 'top' businessmen . I 'saw' them talk. .talk. . and more talk without doing the 'real' job.
.
Imagine the remarks on picture of abused animals like .. ' what to do.?' . .
H e l l o  again.....my dear you're the project coordinator, those kind of remarks should have never been uttered in the first place. What positive views are you giving here?
You're trying to 'teach' the public and you don't even know what to do with such an obvious case?

I wish Sam Lau was here. ( he's a volunteer and an avid animal lover. he offered his own land to shelter the strays be it imported or local (mostly the abandoned and mistreated animals be it dogs or cats). he's one of the member in SPCA and another animal group but though he's doing all the work.. it seems that he wasn't getting the credit he deserve. He deals with DBKK also.) -Now he's a man I have lots of respect for....in this field of work.

I doubt he would even give it a thought let alone post a question online on what to do next. The dog would have long been given the proper attention he needed. It's now been weeks.  I even wondered if it is still alive now.

I so 'hate' all those protocols that they said they need to go thru before they can act.
 Aaaaaaarrrrrrr. . . I know we can't save all BUT it makes a lot of difference to the one that we can. each one that we can  save. . We save.

I had a lengthy questions and answers with the moderator of the page (who I'm guessing I know who) until I think I 'pissed' her totally off. She removed  a few postings she had made earlier on and I noticed too that it was someon else who made remarks on the later postings.
She/he made apologies for the way the previous moderator was addressing my issues.

ANIMALS ARE PRECIOUS

There's nothing about animals that I don't give a minute or two of my time given any day.
This one email sent from Andrew just earned it's place in my blog because  not only is that pink bundle of joy is adorable (as with  those puppies & mom) , it also show us that animals too have the same compassion, love and acceptance as us humans for other than our own  kind .
The Dachshund & The PinkPig

This Dachshund is fostering this little guy for another mom who couldn't take care of him.
He had his eyes closed, but now they are open.
He is just a little bigger than her other pups.

She loves this little guy as much as the other puppies and she is nursing him back to health.

He is the cleanest pig-puppy ever, because she licks him all the time!

HIS NAME IS PINK....

ISN'T THIS THE MOST PRECIOUS THING!!!?

'Until one has loved an animal, part of their soul remains unawakened.'

Don't take life so seriously!
Life is short! Forgive quickly!
Love truly, Laugh uncontrollably
And never regret anything that made you smile

While writing this I had a sudden thought. I wonder how many heartbeat I had in these 365 days. Do you? First of all I want to thank God that my heart is still beating.

It is always around this time of the year, when a year has passed and a new year is ushered in, which triggers thought such as wondering if I have done what I wanted to and anything to regrets. Of course, there are.

Again, if you ask me," is there any resolution"? To think of it, we do not have to wait for a year to resolve what we want to do and be. However, I would like to minimize."regrets", in the days forward. Such as there are five things that we cannot recover in life:

1) The Stone...........after it's thrown,
2) The Word............after it's said,
3) The Occasion.....after it's missed,
4) The Time.............after it's gone
5) A person..............after they die"

No regret. Make time for whatever we desire to do. Do what we want to do and be what we want be.

Make time and Have a Blessed year ahead!

Attaining happiness of mind

An article from my favourite 'motivator' . This is worth reading again and again  to 'boost' oneself esteem and to remind us that life is 'beautiful'.

A LIFE that has values is only possible when there is self-reflection through which there can be illuminating change.
Nowadays there seems to be a crisis, a problem at every step in life. How do we deal with this? How do we prevent the self from becoming pessimistic or disheartened?
Knowledge of the self creates self-respect which enables us to gain a right perspective in life.
Why are the mega rich giving away their wealth in pursuit of happiness? Is there more joy in pursuing this road than accumulating riches only to die and have no more control over their wealth?
Many rich die in poor circumstances, in huge mansions with no company except their servants and staff.
The realisation that material wealth is not the only path to happiness was well depicted in the Charles Dickens book, Christmas Carol, where a scrooge had to re-live the horrors of his stingy ways during Christmas.
The choice to be happy exists within everyone. The path to find that happiness may take a lifetime and for some, never at all.
The needs for a balanced life are few: health, wealth and happiness. The individual's own attitudes and values determine the use or misuse of external things, be they money, people, opportunities or possessions. For example; money is not the root of all evil; it is how we use it that creates the outcome – either benefit or corruption.
Someone who has found happiness of mind has attained everything. What is the use of perishable things? What exists today may not exist tomorrow.
On the other hand imperishable treasures of peace, happiness, love and spiritual powers are with us now and will be with us when we leave the world. No one can snatch them away from us.
Thought for reflection:
One who is positive has no limitations on his thinking. He thinks big and achieves the big

Common sense not so common

I found this article while going through the Star Online news . I just felt like sharing it here

Common sense not so common

Musings by MARINA MAHATHIR

We learn much folk wisdom – some couched in semi-superstition – either from other people or simply from experience.
I USED to muse that there seems, these days, to be a lack of common sense, the wisdom that comes from basic knowledge and experience. Everyone seems to be more interested in fantasising about imaginary things or providing far-out solutions when simpler ones may do.
People in leadership positions seem to have the least common sense of all, probably because they think people expect something different from them instead of the obvious.
I am reminded of this more and more lately. People are so obsessed with getting from A to Z that they skip over B and C and don’t realise that the wisest outcome is in fact D.
So we get, for example, people who think the ultimate goal is to bring out a website in English but who forget that in order to do that, one needs to first find someone competent in English to do it.
Or who, without checking a simple encyclopedia, wish the wrong people greetings for a religious festival. All it takes is some care and common sense.
There are of course worse examples. Sometimes it makes better sense to say nothing than to open one’s mouth and disclose that one’s head is full of rubbish. It can be jaw-droppingly embarrassing for all observers, if not for the one speaking.
Sometimes we can’t blame those laying out such nonsense. Common sense comes from having some basic knowledge handed down from teachers and guides, as well as lived experiences and just plain intelligence.
Getting websites so excruciatingly mistranslated or sending out wrongly targeted tweets is not so much the fault of whoever wrote them but whoever supervises them.
If supervisors and leaders have not had the sense to lay down some basic rules and procedures, then it’s not surprising that such faux pas happens.
I recently had a request for an interview for a student research project. Reading their proposed project, I was appalled by the entire premise of their topic, one so nonsensical that had it been a foreign university, they would have been laughed out of their room.
But then I realised that it’s not the students’ fault. Such a research proposal should really not have passed by their supervising faculty at all.
Their lecturer should have questioned them much more, made them read more background material to come up with something that made better sense.
Then I had the awful realisation that maybe the lecturer, too, thought it was a topic worth researching.
In our lifetime we learn much folk wisdom either from other people or simply from experience. Some are couched in semi-superstition.
Our mothers would tell us not to cut our fingernails at dusk. It may have sounded a bit mystical but the real lesson was that if we cut them at a time when the light was bad, the chances are we’re likely to cut ourselves.
Or we would be told to close our mouths with our hands when we yawned so that the Devil would not enter our bodies, when in fact it was so that we would not rudely display our open mouths to other people.
When dealing with the public, simple psychology will often do. Nobody really likes to be berated all the time. Often gentle persuasion works better.
Most people have a certain innate sense of decency and justice, so will tend to take the side of the underdog. Thus wielding a stick too heavy-handedly over someone much weaker will only elicit sympathy for that person.
Being humble, even if suspect, usually wins over arrogance. Doesn’t take a genius to figure that out.
But repeatedly, all we see is the opposite of such common sense. Perhaps some people feel the need to be too clever, or assume that the audience must be simply too stupid.
This is the worst mistake of all. If there’s one of you and millions of them, chances are there are probably lots of people much smarter than you out there and they’ll outgun you with brains any time.
The trouble is, like those students, once there is no common sense at the top, the bottom takes the same cue and loses all ability to think clearly, too. Whatever is the prevailing logic on high, no matter how absurd, becomes everyone’s logic, too.
The illogic when unquestioned is accepted as gospel. Thus a talk becomes a seminar, a party becomes an orgy, a gathering a riot. The simple matter of supporting evidence is ignored.
Where on earth will this collective stupidity lead us?
Will it make us stand tall and proud as Malaysians, punching above our weight, as someone put it, all round the globe? Or will it make us increasingly isolated and provincial?
Or don’t we care

CHINESE NEW YEAR

 Went online just to 'check' on what 'the experts' says about this coming new year...
(I copied and paste these randomly from the net )
Chinese Year of the Dragon
The Chinese New Year 2012 enters the fifth sign of the Chinese zodiac which represents the dragon, making this the Chinese Year of the Dragon. It is a year that is believed to holds great promise for building wealth and for making life-altering decisions.
Benevolent in nature, the dragon is associated with many characteristics including:

* Good fortune
* Greatness
* Blessing
* Boldness
* Heroism
* Nobility
* Divinity
* Excellence
* Enthusiasm
* Decisiveness
* Optimism
* Intelligencesnake.
* Ambition

AND WHAT 'LINED' UP FOR THE TIGER IN ME
(..thou I was born not in any of those years shown :)  )
TigerTiger: 1914, 1926, 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, 1998, 2010
Lucky Tiger is thrilled to be in new places, discovering the unknown secrets of distant lands be they of the mind, body or spirit. Smart, determined and socially oriented, Tiger relates to the western zodiac sign of Aquarius--the cosmic social worker. Here is an altruistic nature that is interested in the 'big problems' of welfare, justice and world peace. Thriving on unpredictable situations, Tiger doesn't mind a challenge, though their authority is their own. Fluctuating between extraversion and a life filled with colleagues and friends, and the need for solitude and 'space', Tiger is happiest when trusting their instincts--even when they go against the grain of social expectations and assumptions.

Tiger Overview- (I like this part.... )

Okay, the Dragon is probably not exactly your style. But admit it -- you like it nonetheless. After all, you'd fly if you could. In Chinese astrology, the Dragon rules the Eastern sky, while the Tiger rules the Western. You're almost bosom buddies. Not only that, it's a Water year, and that's your most favorable element. Luck is with you! And, nine favorable months should give you a ton of great opportunities. As long as you don't get carried away by every wild scheme the Dragon cooks up, you should do well.
Anything to do with communication, networking or travel could lead to your heart's desire. This is a year during which you'll want to be active. Make a commitment. Begin new projects. Be bold. Take chances. It's time to live your dreams!

Yesssssssssss!!!!

 Phew....just read all that plus a few other 'animals' signs...all with relation to my love ones of course.
And as with every year....I delight momentarily with the positive 'highlights' and ignore the negative ones.
But then again... as I've said...momentarily cos I usually forget about these 'fuss' within a month or two.
Might as well too as our life afterall shouldn't be ruled by what other people says....

PEACE BE WITH YOU :)
(This year I didn't spent the new year at my mom's as we were all in KK)
