I received a surprise but pleasent phone call from my very long 'lost' friend Francis yesterday morning.
I do not make a habbit of picking up calls with no name displayed on my handphone but ever since the house phone gone 'haywired' I was not given any option but to pick up all incoming calls.
As it turned out he has already been in town for a couple of days prior to the call.
Hhmm.... this is what happened when friends become strangers. They tend to feel a little akward getting in touch again.
However once the 'ice' was broken, we seem to be at ease talking to each other about old times and anything else under the weather.
He was here as an official for the Melaka under 16 boys hockey team who would be competing in the tournament which was to be held in the span of ten days.
This time around, the national under 16 boys hockey tournament would be played right here in Sandakan.Initially it should have been held in KK but up grading work on their hockey field was still under way therefore not ready .
Much to the dissapointments of some of the team members I supposed.
Sandakan is such a small town. Ten days here? What were they to do?
What has Sandakan to offer compared to KK ...other than the hockey field? :)
.... monkies at the famed Sipilok centre perhaps?.. ha ha ha
Well..it is listed on the 'must visit' place should you land yourself in Sandakan. That is where I supposed everyone would ended up visiting by the end of their stay.
THEY DID! but sadly forgotten to observe the feeding time table therefore managed only to see the orangs on video clips.
They did not miss ( could not escape would be a better word ) the chance to do some hiking at the Rainforest Discovery Centre as well.
We came along for motivational purpose ;)
